G6YA/A was the callsign used for the Festival of Britain which as a national event held in 1951 to showcase for British achievements in the arts, architecture, science and technology.
An exhibition station for the “Our way of life” festival exhibition in BS7 operated by Geoff Manning, G2IK.
The call G6YA belonged to Arthur Radford, who was an electrical engineer and had a shop in Bedminster opposite Will’s factory, in the mid & late 1940’s. It was a good shop for government surplus and radio bits and pieces. Bert Uppington, G2BAR, worked there.
