BADARS – Bristol & District Amateur Radio Society

The following information was provided by Tom Boucher, G3OLB.

Below are some photos of the Bristol and District Amateur Radio Society, which I joined in about 1955/6 when I was 12 or 13! It met at St Mary Redcliffe Church Hall off Redcliffe Hill and then moved to Muller’s Orphanage, Ashley Down. The club had the callsign G3GIS.

Ted Halliday G3JMY was a leading light in that club and helped me build a DF frame antenna and portable Rx for a DF hunt which he organised at Stockwood Lane, Brislington.

Roy G3FYX was a member of that club and he is still a member of Bristol RSGB today.

The club folded a year or so after I joined.
