In December 2025 a small book was loaned which turned out to be a diary/log from Mr C Beaven who became BRS 3469 in November 1938 and 2BVD in February 1939. The book documents his experiments and construction of his radio equipment, a shortwave log from 1938-1940 and his day to day life in Bristol during WW2. Cecil Rowland Beaven was born on 15th March 1909 in Weston-Super-Mare and died in October 1981. Mr Beaven lived in Horfield and attended the RSGB Bristol Group and kept an almost daily log of his radio activities.
Information about 2BVD is sparse but according to the 1939 census he was single and a van delivery driver for a wine and spirits company.
Also contained in the diary were the 1939 photographs of NFD which can be found here and some correspondence with the RSGB.

The link below is a scan of the complete book which also contained various cuttings from WW2 newspapers.
