Affiliated Societies Contests
AFS 80mCW and SSB AFS the contests were on 80m only until 40m was added in 2015. In most cases operation has been from members home stations. Team sizes have varied over the years, but have always been a fixed number, unlike the 80m Club Championship where scores from all members are included. Bristol CG's "A" team were in the top 5, in both SSB and CW events, each year between 2006 to 2019 with only one exception. We finally won CW AFS in 2012 and repeated this in 2016 and 2017. Super LeagueThe Super League is a combination of a number of HF and VHF Affiliated Societies contests spanning autumn through spring of the following year. In order to do well in the Super League, an affiliated society has to be able to field a team in all constituent events. When the Super League started in 2010/11 there were four events: 80m CW and SSB AFS, 144 MHz AFS and 432 MHz AFS) and eight of the ten top scoring managed to field teams in everyone of these. |

Bristol CG won the first Super League and was awarded the AFS Contest Club of the Year Certificate. Over the next few years the competition for the top places was intense between Bristol and the Camb-Hams (see table) More contests (50MHz, 70MHz, 160m, and 80m DATA) were added to the Super League. With only one or two members having reasonable home sites for VHF/UHF it is currently hard for us to compete. |
